Aryzta Spread Trading Example
If you are going to spread trade on Irish shares like Aryzta then, looking at a Spread Trading company website, at the moment you would find a spread trading price of €27.93 - €28.24.
Therefore, you can spread bet on Aryzta shares to move higher than €28.24 or to move lower than €27.93.
When making a spread bet, you trade on every unit the market moves up or down; in the case of the Aryzta market a unit is €0.01 of the share's price movement.
For this example, you could choose to spread bet £2 for every cent that the Aryzta share price increases or decreases.
Buying - Spread Betting on the Market to Go Up
If you were to buy Aryzta at €28.24 and the shares increased then you might see the spread move to €28.95 - €29.26. In that case, you could decide to take your profits by closing your spread trade at €28.95.
Profit/Loss = (closing value of the market - initial value of the market) x stake per cent
Profit/Loss = (€28.95 - €28.24) x £2 per cent stake
Profit/Loss = €0.71 x £2 per cent
Profit/Loss = £142 profit
Financial markets also move down, if the market had decreased to, as an example, €27.60 - €27.91, you may want to close your bet to prevent further losses. If that happened, you would sell back at €27.60.
You would do this with the same £2 per cent stake:
Profit/Loss = (closing value of the market - initial value of the market) x stake per cent
Profit/Loss = (€27.60 - €28.24) x £2 per cent stake
Profit/Loss = -€0.64 x £2 per cent
Profit/Loss = -£128 loss
5) How do you Spread Bet on the Aryzta Market to Go Down?
One useful benefit of spread betting is that investors can short the markets.
If you recall, initially the market was priced at €27.93 - €28.24.
If you were to sell Aryzta at €27.93 and the shares decreased then the spread might become €26.85 - €27.16. Therefore, you might decide to close your trade for a profit at €27.16.
Profit/Loss = (initial value of the market - closing value of the market) x stake per cent
Profit/Loss = (€27.93 - €27.16) x £2 per cent stake
Profit/Loss = €0.77 x £2 per cent
Profit/Loss = £154 profit
Financial markets also move up, if the market had increased to, for example, €28.31 - €28.62, you might want to close your trade to prevent further losses. If so, you would buy back at €28.62.
So, with the same £2 per cent stake:
Profit/Loss = (initial value of the market - closing value of the market) x stake per cent
Profit/Loss = (€27.93 - €28.62) x £2 per cent stake
Profit/Loss = -€0.69 x £2 per cent
Profit/Loss = -£138 loss
