Spread Betting Market	S+P 500 Rolling Daily
The Quote	1240.9 - 1241.3
How This Works	You can bet on the S+P 500 Rolling Daily market moving:   Higher than 1241.3, or   Lower than 1240.9 This is a Rolling Daily market and so there is no settlement date. If you decide not to close your trade and the trading session ends then your trade will roll over into the next session. If a trade rolls over then you will normally either receive or pay interest for overnight financing depending upon the direction of your position. Units Traded	Financial spread bets on the S+P 500 market are made in £x per 0.1 points. Where 0.1 points is 0.1 points of the stock index's price movement. E.g. if the S+P 500 changes by 4.5 points then you would win or lose 45 times your stake.
Stake per Unit	You decide how much you want to stake per 0.1 points, e.g. £1 per 0.1 points, £3 per 0.1 points, £20 per 0.1 points etc.
Short Staking Example	With that in mind, if you have a stake of £3 per 0.1 points and the S+P 500 moves by 2.1 points, you would lose or win £3 per 0.1 points x 2.1 points = £63.

Worked Trading Example | Going Long of the S+P 500

You Now Work Out Whether to Go Long or Short	The S+P 500 to move:   Higher than 1241.3? or   Lower than 1240.9?
Let’s Assume You Decide to Go Long	Higher than 1241.3
You Choose Your Stake, Let's Say You Select	£1 per 0.1 points
So Now What Happens?	You make a gain of £1 for every 0.1 points the S+P 500 pushes higher than 1241.3 You lose £1 for each 0.1 points the S+P 500 moves lower than 1241.3
If You Are Speculating on a Market to Rise Your Profits or Losses =	(Settlement Price - Opening Price) x stake per 0.1 points
Trading Scenario 1	The S+P 500 increases and the spread betting market is revised to 1249.7 - 1250.1.
Time to Lock in a Profit?	At this point, you may decide to keep your position open or close it, i.e. close your spread bet to lock in a profit. In this case you decide to settle your bet by selling the market at 1249.7.
Your Profits or Losses =	(Settlement Price - Opening Price) x stake per 0.1 points
	(1249.7 - 1241.3) x £1 per 0.1 points
	8.4 points x £1 per 0.1 points
Your Profits or Losses =	£84.00 profit
Trading Scenario 2	The S+P 500 slips and the index spread betting market is revised and moved to 1233.9 - 1234.3.
Time to Limit the Loss?	At this point, you could opt to keep your trade open or close it to restrict your loss. In this instance you opt to close your position by selling at 1233.9.
Your Profits or Losses =	(Settlement Price - Opening Price) x stake per 0.1 points
	(1233.9 - 1241.3) x £1 per 0.1 points
	-7.4 points x £1 per 0.1 points
Your Profits or Losses =	-£74.00 loss

Worked Spread Trading Example | Taking a Short Position on the S+P 500

You Now Choose Whether to Buy or Sell	The S+P 500 to go:   Higher than 1241.3? or   Lower than 1240.9?
Let's Assume You Want to Sell	Lower than 1240.9
You Select Your Stake, Let's Say You Choose	£2 per 0.1 points
What Next?	You lose £2 for each 0.1 points the S+P 500 goes higher than 1240.9 You make a gain of £2 for each 0.1 points the S+P 500 pushes below 1240.9
If You Are Spread Betting on a Market to Fall Your Profits or Losses =	(Opening Price - Settlement Price) x stake per 0.1 points
Trading Scenario 3	The S+P 500 decreases and the market adjusts and moves to 1233.8 - 1234.2.
Close for a Profit?	At this point, you may decide to keep your bet open or close it, i.e. close your spread bet to lock in your profit. For this example, you opt to close your bet and buy at 1234.2.
Your Profits or Losses =	(Opening Price - Settlement Price) x stake per 0.1 points
	(1240.9 - 1234.2) x £2 per 0.1 points
	6.7 points x £2 per 0.1 points
Your Profits or Losses =	£134.00 profit
Trading Scenario 4	The S+P 500 pushes higher and the financial spread betting market is adjusted and moved to 1246.5 - 1246.9.
Time to Restrict Your Loss?	You can opt to keep your position open or close it, i.e. close your position to limit your losses. In this example you opt to settle your trade by buying at 1246.9.
Your P&L =	(Opening Price - Settlement Price) x stake per 0.1 points
	(1240.9 - 1246.9) x £2 per 0.1 points
	-6.0 points x £2 per 0.1 points
Your P&L =	-£120.00 loss
